This is such a special and wonderful time of the year for us, as Christians. It's a time to really consider ALL that has been given for us.
That a powerful, Holy, omnipotent GOD would create himself in a human form to be born as a BABY is almost incomprehensible. But He doesn't stop there. He leads a life of perfect example for us to follow. He cares for the poor, He heals the sick and He saves the lost. All while in a weak, human form- battling the temptations that we all battle. Then, as the ultimate gift...He gave Himself to be sacrificed on a rugged cross so that we would have LIFE. Not only the life that we are leading- but everlasting life. Oh, what a Savior!
In all of the legends, myths and writings of other "gods"- there is none that show the love, grace and mercy that the one true God has! Because those others are written and retold by mere men... the Bible is the living word- the true story of the one true God. If man had written I believe it would have gone much differently. We don't have the capacity to begin to love sacrificially the way Jesus does.
I challenge you to read the book of Luke this month. Pray about the Lord speaking to you through His word and receive the ultimate gift this Christmas... a relationship with Jesus Christ.

Looove this sweet Tilmon bunch!! Those 3 kiddos are about the sweetest I have ever been around! They are always so polite and friendly!! So I knew I would enjoy this session. All 3 are so very different- I just love that about siblings. But they all have those brilliant eyes that I love so much!

The parents are so involved in our community-- and I just wanted to share what the Dad is up to now-- he is a Physician's Assistant at Sterlington RHC (665-4543) and sees patients there himself. He can get you in and out pretty quick- and really knows his stuff!! So if you're needing somewhere to go-- keep this number handy!

We went to my favorite places for this season. It's just so perfect and shows that Louisiana beauty. Again the color was so pretty, I just couldn't turn many black and white! I love it when that happens! The weather was pretty great too. It did get cooler- but it was good.

This scripture was written long before the birth of Jesus Christ-- yet it was true. My family watched the Nativity Story the other night (I advise that every family watch it every Christmas) and it just amazed me that the decisions that Herod made-- a lost and evil king are exactly what the Lord used to fulfill the scriptures! Jesus was born in Bethlehem because of a decree that Herod had demanded. But scripture had foretold of His birth in Bethlehem before Herod was even born. ---Because of Herod's evil plans to kill the newborn, Jospeh was told to go to Egypt... which also was foretold in scripture... not to mention the wise men and Elizabeth with John... the list goes on and on. It truly is the Greatest Story Ever Told! How could ANYONE deny that He IS the Savior?!? I know that there are so many elements that I will never truly understand-- and each year it seems that I learn more and more about His birth-- ir never gets old! My heart is full and I am so thankful for His sacrifice.

This beautiful family belongs to our very best friends. The Lord answered several different prayers all at one time when He allowed our paths to cross theirs.
I am so thankful for them and all that they mean to us!! They have truly been our family - there for us no matter what! I always have peace of mind knowing that no matter what, I always have people to depend on. They have kept our children (Way too many to times to count-- even given up there bed! -- haha--Mark's a sucker for the princess), gone on vacations, attended births, baptisms, hospital stays, most sporting events- even out of state; laughed with us- at us too, cried with -- and for us, and prayed for us. I would have never even thought to ask God for all of these attributes in our friends... but am so thankful He knows who we NEED. =)

The little guys (or younger I should say- that oldest one is turning into a giant before our eyes) are honestly like my own children. I have taught them in about every capacity and am so stinkin proud of them and enjoy them every time I am with them.

The other wonderful part is- they feel the same about our children. That is a true friend too. You can't really love someone unless they love your children. My mom taught me that =)

So-- enough of the gush-- on to the pics! Of course, if the Armstrong's schedule its going to be as cold as Siberia!! We shivered and shook through the whole darned thing! But I looove the results! They are all so photogenic!!

Another beautiful baby!! Soooooo precious!! Too bad it was just sooo super cold outside! But Cotton (formerly known as Coda) graciously allowed us to come in amidst all of their fabulous renovations.
We shot pics, then rested, then changed clothes, ate, shot pics, then rested... then started all over =) We ahd a great time and I really enjoyed spending time with these sweet friends.
you are looking at the baby diva! She is dressed to the nines in every snapshot they have of her..... sure reminds me of SOMEONE!! hahah!! That's how I was with Hannah Beth! It's so much fun- then you have created a monster who wants to look like a rock star ALL the time! She will see!! heehee-- or she can just ask her mom! =P
I did have a great time. I hate that we have had to reschedule so many times and take a true adventure to get it done! Hopefully next time I can have it mapped out a little better and the weather will be kind to us!

I'm in looove!! Maybe it was just my mood-- but something about these pics just inspired creativity! I looove when that happens!
What is also exciting is that this session was done in less than 1 hour!! Yep-- when it's 45 degrees outside and you have a toddler in a short-sleeve dress you can work REALLY fast!! haha!! Maybe I should always just pretend it's freezing! lol!

This baby is absolutley beautiful!! She was soooo sweet-- and so were the parents! I had a wonderful time and left there with a frozen smile!!

The next to the last one has the words that I heard this little one babbling!! It kinda goes back to my last post where I said I wish photographs captured sound too! This isn't exactly what I had in mind... but you get the point!! =)
We could also put more words, or change it to favorite things... anything! I love writing on pics!!
The last one is just a FUNNY!! She came to the appointment pristine and gorgeous! She leaves looking tired and a little bitter! haha!! So I just could not resist! It just makes me smile!!

To say I love my job would be an understatement! It's families like this one who make me feel that way!!

This is a LOT to be thankful for!! I had the awesome God-given privelege of praying with my little girl's best friend last night to ask Jesus into her heart! She cried, I cried... then Hannah Beth joined us... and WE cried! Hannah Beth has been praying faithfully for her friend for 2 years when we started a "one" program at our church. It was truly divine watching the Lord do an AMAZING work in 2 little girls lives!! It was a precious, precious day-- one that I will never forget.

Thank you Lord, for your mercy, grace and forgiveness. Thank you for making it so simple that a child can follow You. Thank you for answered prayer. You are awesome and worthy of all praise.

Cutie-Patooties!!! We laughed so much at these kiddos my cheeks hurt! When I asked the little girl to lay on the ground, she looked at her mom and said "really?" hahaha!! She had NO idea what she was getting herself into on this day!! Bless her heart!
And the little boy kept mocking his mom's monster noises that were meant to make him smile-- which they did!! It was sooo stinkin' cute! We just had fun! I love these kids! I have known them both since birth and they are pretty special to me!

I really wish that when you captured an image that sometimes you could capture the SOUND! It's so sweet to hear them giggling and the cute things they say-- but sadly, that is where a photograph falls short. That's my future invention! =)

OH-- and about 20 minutes after the little girl and I braved our way down to the waters edge we spotted a BIG GATOR swimming by! It really wasn't THAT close-- but what a sight! He seemed about 6 feet long! I have spotted a gator about 85% of my trips down here!! Gotta love Louisiana bayous!!

Oh my goodness!!! What a sweet, beautiful newborn!!! I could cuddle with that precious baby boy all day. She is very lucky I gave him back a the end of the session!! Just perfection!!!

He was... our session was ...uhm..not so much! LOL!! If it could go wrong, it DID!!
When we left the house it was beautiful and bright, sunshiney!! Sometime during the 20 minute drive, the sun all but disappeared and the temperature plummeted! So this poor itty bitty baby was chilling!!!
Then, bless his heart, he had a full tummy and could not settle down. Those of you that know me, know that I always say I have never had a sleeping baby!! TRUE STILL!! He's only 5 weeks old, never stays awake... but of course, did for me the WHOLE time! haha!! On the up side-- he was sooooo good!! =)

He probably would have snoozed if we had been in the warmth somewhere!! I have to get my little studio going!! I have the stuff... just haven't had the time to work on setting it up! It sure would have come in handy today, although I MUCH prefer the outdoor setting!

So, K, thank you sooooo much for trusting me with your sweet bundle's first portraits!! I feel very honored to do it!! Your family is precious and I had a great time spending my morning with you guys!!

This was taken on one of the few cold days we have had this year! Poor babies were quivering from the cold breeze! So we didn't take a lot of time to get too creative. But with beautiful children like this-- that's all you need! =)

They may look familiar-- this is their third session this year! I am enjoying getting to watch their sweet family grow and change! I am always amazed at the changes in the first year! wow!! And I love how the boys look so much alike! They are just precious!!

I have always enjoyed this precious bunch!! I taught the oldest one in first grade before they moved. I have truly missed them. There are just some families you really bond with-- and this is one for me! =)
They have all grown so much since I have seen them. They are gorgeous girls and so, so sweet! Each one is so different and adorable! We had a great time and the weather and "spot" were gorgeous!

Aren't these 2 of the cutest brothers ever? They are just precious!! The oldest did everything I asked him to do-- with a sweet smile! He is such a PLEASURE! I think we could have gone all day!
And the little one has the most precious little face-- I could never tell that sweet heart no! He would be so stinkin spoiled!! He is just beautiful! We wore him slap out too! His Mom said he went to bed at 6 and slept ALL night! Bless his heart! And we didn't get to do half of what I had planned!! I can't wait to get my lens on him again! =)

This was the perfect verse for the season! - I made NO attempt to look for it-- I am reading the book of Philippians and there it was! There are sooo many well known verses in that book. If you have not studied your Bible in a while- this would be a great place to start.
This verse just reminds me of a father and child. A child is is comfortable around his or her dad and asks for what they want. They don't have to write up a purchase order, or have a committee vote it in--- they simply ask. This should be our comfort with our Lord. You can be comfortable and still be respectful. Through the reading of God's Word and prayer... your relationship strengthens, the bond grows and the "walls" fall. Eventually you find yourself knowing that you are understanding what God's will is for you... and that is what you ask for. It comes full circle. But it starts with US! We have to be committed and thirsty for HIM.

What great energy this family has! My cheeks hurt from smiling so much through the session! There is never a dull moment with those two little guys! I love how the oldest looks just like his mom and the youngest looks just like his dad!! In the close up pics it is just remarkable!
Everyone was so willing to do whatever was asked--even carry my chair a long way AND down a big embankment! Gotta love it when there is a man around! =)
You may notice that I posted more black and whites than unusual-- even though I loooove them-- but this family loves black and whites too-- and I was actually shooting with that in mind. Close ups are always beautiful in black and white! It just adds the dramatic effect that for some reason, color doesn't. So I tried to give them plenty to see in black and white. But I really like the bold colors they wore too! I loved them all!

I chose to put the scripture that is on the last picture in this blog. I loved it to go along with this family and this portrait. We aren't expected to be perfect. In fact-- we will never be perfect. I feel that blameless has more to do with intent. The Lord will bless us if we keep Him first in our lives. Striving DAILY to follow his Word and follow His plan for our lives. We will definitely stumble along the way-- but the Lord knows our heart and our motives-- which we should keep pure.

Here are two of my favorite KIDS!! Yes-- still kids to me!! Even though one is a Jr in college, and the other a Sr in high school! haha!
I have known the 2 of them for quite some time... and have always felt a bond with them. I am so proud of the young adults they have become!
The Girl should look pretty familiar-- I took her Sr portraits just a couple of weeks back. (Which is why there are none of her by herself in this blog=). Her brother wouldn't be outdone! So when he came home from LSU - we had to schedule another session =) And we had a great time! I am so glad we did this--- and I am honored that you came to me!! You are always so much fun to be around-- and I have truly missed you ALL!! Mitch and Hannah Beth were quite upset that they didn't go to this session with me!! (We wouldn't have gotten a thing accomplished then) haha!! They miss you too!

What perfect advice in a world full of worry and depression. We sometimes get weighted down focusing on the neagative. And it is everywhere... but in just thinking on the positive things our entire outlook can change. The Bible addresses every challenge we can face, and then some! So often we forget (or neglect) to turn to His Word for the perfect advice. We try to figure things out on our own- and even follow what the world is doing. He has equipped us for so much more. We can be the positive example the world needs right now! =)

Another beautiful sr!! I am amazed at the poise these young ladies possess at such a young age! This session was so much fun!! I knew the portraits would be beautiful! I could not wait to see them!

What a wonderful validation for children -- and acceptance of simplicity for adults!
As a youth director at my church I have the privilege of witnessing the FAITH that a child so quickly comes to! It is amazing how they recognize the Holy Spirit's conviction and respond immendiately. We adults have the awful temptation to quench that spirit and outright ignore Him. The Bible speaks to that. I guess this explains why I have a much easier time sharing Jesus with a child than an adult. Life sometimes gets in the way. If people knew how deep His love is and could trust His calling like a child does... we could turn our world around! My prayer is that I will reamin sensitive to His spirit and remain "forever young"!

What a precious family!! After MUCH debating about this session-- the weather was AWFUL that day-- it turned out BEAUTIFUL!! We were so thankful, because there was really no other time we could squeeze it in!!
This Fall season has been wonderfully packed with great people and fabulous sessions!! But man-- I am just about overbooked! I am trying to work on it all as quickly as possible-- but it is certainly piling up!!
JUST FYI-- if you want Christmas cards/pics-- you really need to set those appointments up around July!! They go fast!! I already have a couple on the books for NEXT YEAR!! =)

This little guy in this session is soo smart! I enjoyed following him around and just hearing all of the cute and smart little things he would say! He is a really neat little boy!

I think this is so appropriate for the time- our economy- and now it is almost Christmas. Take a moment and look around-- help someone who is in need. Share what the Lord has blessed you with! Shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child are due to be shipped soon. Pack a shoe box and take it to a local participating church-- mine is Victory Baptist Church-- 740 Finks Hideaway Rd. They will be delivered to children in different parts of the world who are learning the Gospel of Christ. Be a part of an important mission!! Or jsut help a neighbor put a turkey on her table for Thanksgiving. There are so many opportunities-- don't miss a blessing!

Wow-- if you don't realize how fast time is flying by- just look at the life of a baby!! It is truly amazing to think about how much they have grown and learned in just 1 short year!
This little guy is about as happy and laid back as they come!! He would do anything! You could give hime cake, take away cake, give him a sucker, take away the sucker...and he never missed a beat! He is totally satisfied at all times-- I sure wish I could be like that!!
I have loved watching this beautiful baby boy behind the lens of my camera this past year! He is so sweet and a true joy to be around! He is so smart- and definitely covered in LOVE!

This was 2 sessions in one! I was thrilled to take My friend's family portraits that we have had scheduled for a YEAR!! But then to find out that her aunt and uncle would be in town visiting her Dad-- it was just too sweet to pass up!! So she invited them all-- and we got to shooting! It was a hoot!! There is nothing like honesty of elder people to one another.....until you are around elder SIBLINGS!! It was great! =) I love how comfortalbe they are with one another and that they love each other. It is a great thing that they make sure they see each other once a year. Every family should do that. I loved it. They are very blessed to have that kind of support in their family.

Then we did D's family. They are simply beautiful!! I have had the privilege of photographing them before... but the weather was much more cooperative this time!
We go way back as friends- and I have to say, D is my calm in the storm sometimes. She is so laid back and one of the best listeners I believe EVER!! That after just talking to her I feel better!! But she always has good insight and advice too--- hard to beat a friend like that!! =)

If we truly set our eyes on Jesus- there is NO way ANY of us would live as we do now. If we realized for a moment what all has transpired before us-- and even presently in the spiritual realm, we would drastically change our daily lives. We count our worldy successes when looking back on our lives. Yet, it's our SPIRITUAL successes that we will be judged by!! We need to work on setting spiriual goals-- not just financial and material. *Read or Bibles, attend Bible classes/church, witness to our lost family and friends, help the needy, pray for others... the list goes on and on. He DIED for us... we are to LIVE for HIM.

I knew this family would be fun!! I told Brandon before they got there that they'd be willing to do whatever, wherever- and I was right! No hesitation!
I have known these children for years... which of course have flown by...I can't believe how grown they are!! They are great kids!

16 and counting! =) This is truly a beautiful family!! And man, are they "troopers"!!! When my husband and I pulled up for this session he said it looked like it might rain. So I pulled up TWC and there was 0% chance-- whew!! SO we got out to look around-- and that 0 turned to 100!!! I was so worried! This is a family of 16 coming from different towns at 9am on a Saturday!!! There is NO WAY we want to call this off. So we set up and got to shooting. As they're all sitting there Brandon could see the "big rain" coming our way. We took off running and as we were getting in the cars it POURED!!! and POURED!!! But we waited for it to pass and took care of business!!! We were all so thankful that we didn't have to reschedule all that! Depspite all of the craziness it was great!! I had a wonderful time and I think their pictures turned out fabulous!!

I have been thinking a lot lately about why we as Christians sometimes don't behave as Christians. I believe it's because we lose focus, for one... but mostly I don't think we "get" who He truly IS. We don't have the fear and respect of His power and His glory. We don't keep His commandments because we don't take His consequences and His promises seriously!! I could think of a thousand analogies to go along with this. But it's like seeing a child in the store with a patient and loving parent talking gently to the child to stop pulling toys off of the shelf. Then watching that child look straight at the parent and clearing the shelf!! You'd be outraged if the parent didn't discipline the unruly, disrespectful child. How much MORE would it be with a Holy GOD??? But we live in sin.. even when He tells us in His word NOT to. We too will be disciplined out of love.

This great group of guys wanted to have their pics made together. It was kind of funny-- We've had this appointment set up for a while and I knew there were extra boys coming for a few minutes, but just assumed I wouldn't know them. Wrong! =) When those 3 tall boys stepped out of the truck I instantly knew them. I remember when a couple of them were born! It's such a small, small world!
They were all 4 so sweet and willing to do whatever we asked. They're all so stinkin' cute too!! It was a lot of fun.
You may recognize the little blonde guy from baseball pictures past. I have had the privilege of taking his pictures the last 2 years. It was great to finally get to work with him OUT of that basebal uniform.

This beautiful family is very special to me! They are about as close to family as you can get without actually being related!
I had a wonderful time spending the afternoon with them. We laughed a lot- as you can tell-- and the girls just played. They loved putting that yellow flower in their hair. They are both so sweet and easy going. It was a perfect (although very windy) afternoon.
Words really aren't adequate to describe what this family means to my parents--and us. The dad is truly like a brother to both of my parents. They have unconditional love and respect for one another. He knows more about my family (and loves us anyway) than any other person. He has been there through everything- good and bad... we are thankful it has been mostly good! And my parents are always there for them. They truly look out for one another. There are few people who can say they have a true friend like they do.
I was honored to capture their memories for them. I love the portraits, and even got a little choked up editing them... weird, I know!! But I felt like I could feel the happiness in the pictures!!

So thank you, P for getting me to take your portraits again! I had a wonderful time with you all. I hope you love them! =)

This verse really spoke to me this morning! We think we have things figured out. We think we know what is in our future and have it all planned out. And we are actually satisfied and even look forward to the things that we THINK we know about. It is sooo exciting to me to know that we haven't even scratched the surface on how Awesome God is. We don't even have the capacity to entertain the thoughts of what is in store for us. It makes my insides shake like a small child on Christmas morning (literally) to think of this!! This is part of our JOY as a child of God.
~Don't waste your time in THIS life trying to attain fame and fortune. Spend it getting to know the Lord and growing a relationship that will last through time and eternity. Commit yourself to His ways and raise your family in HIS will. Then one day you and your family may claim all that is promised.

Also known as my nephew! His name, of course, is not Brother... but he has been called that his whole life-- thanks to his big sis! =) (It's actually Jason, like his Dad)
This cutie pie came along just one month after Brandon and I were married. It is sooo hard to believe that 17 years have gone by!!
He has always been such a fun, easy-going little guy! He has always been all-boy and followed his Dad's every move- liked what he liked, did what he did, went where he went- his mini-me. =)
His Dad is Brandon's oldest brother, Jason. In the 2nd picture up at the top he looks like Brandon to me. But I distinctly remember the first time I saw Jason at the fair in Delhi. (I was about 11 I guess- making Jason about 14) And he looked JUST like that too!! He even had a letter-man style jacket on-- too funny!!
You can see thee 3 of them in the picture at the bottom =) We had a great time just hanging out together. His mom (my sister in law) and I have been friends since before Jason and Brandon entered the scene-- which was a loooooooong time ago-- we were just little girls!! We were blessed-- friends who get to be family!! I love them all dearly!!

Brother--I am so proud of the man you have become. You have always attacked every challenge and game with such gusto that you seemed like you were born to do it!! You have a big heart and fierce determination that I know will guide you.
Follow your heart-- but make sure you have given that heart to God. He will bless you and show you His plan for your future. You are precious to us and we are always here for you if you ever need anything at all!! Happy Senior year! We love you!

I can NOT BELIEVE the time has come for Rachel's Senior portraits!! Wow!! I really AM getting old!!
I am so proud of the sweet young lady she has become!! I can not wait to see what the Lord has planned for her now!
We had so much fun with this session. It just felt like I was visiting with old friends and taking pictures some too! I love those kinds of sessions. Looooove, loooove love this family session!! It turned out so beautiful to me. Everything about it was perfect! My sweet hubby got to go with me and he took some shots too-- I have no idea where they are... but I was loving him taking the time to go with me.
I love the yellow flowers- they are the reason I love fall pics so much!! I love the sunshine and the gentle breeze. Just perfect.
I got to know this little family when I taught the little guy in the picture. He is such a mess!! But absolutely precious! I loved every minute with him- and can't believe how FAST they grow up. He and Hannah Beth are in the same grade-- but I feel like they should both be back in 1st grade-- with me!! I truly went by in a flash.
All 3 of these children are very beautiful and so much fun to be around!

You may recognize this gorgeous bunch from just a couple of months back. They wanted to use some of their Daddy's tall, rich cotton as their background! A perfect idea!! I loved it!!
These were my first- but hopefully not my last cotton pictures! To me-- it makes the perfect fall background. It's so bright and earthy-- such a huge part of our wonderful Louisiana culture. I was really looking forward to this -- as somewhat of a challenge- and a treat! I love this family anyway-- they would look great in a dump--- but this was so much fun for me!

These portraits are of one of my very favorite young people!! She is always a ray of sunshine to me!
She is my helper in the youth group on Wednesday nights and teaches for me when I can't be there. The kids look up to her and trust her with their thoughts and concerns. I don't know what I'd do without her. She is a great friend.
Holly is also an up and comer in the music world! She has taken part in a division of the great Louisiana Hay Ride and even got accepted to try out for TV's THE VOICE! And we are blessed to hear her sing every Sunday at our church!
On top of all that- she is also in school to be a music teacher- which I know she would also be fantastic at! Super talented, beautiful and sweet-- the total package! =)
I had a wonderful time taking her pictures. We found some gorgeous spots and just had fun. Her inner beauty AND outer beauty really shine!!

Gorgeous, Gorgeous, Gorgeous!! Everything about this little beauty is PERFECT!! Her little solemn personality and plump little rolls were sooo reminiscent of my Hannah Beth, I just wanted to take her HOME!! =)
So choosing my favorites out of a WEALTH of possibilities was quite a challenge. But this is a start. She is a little star and took to the camera like a pro. Her sweet Momma came prepared with LOTS of princess stuff-- so we had a wonderful time!

This little angel definitely completes her sweet family and totally fills her parents adoring hearts! She has been prayed for for many, many years before she ever came into this world. She is probably prayed up for the rest of her life, and then some-- because I know she is still prayed for every single day. It is amazing to watch God answer prayer in such a complete and miraculous way.

I am honored to take Lauren Grace's first pictures, and can not wait to see how God molds her into the young lady she is destined to become!

Here are some of my favorite kiddos- again! =)
They were absolutely PERFECT!! It was just spending the afternoon with good friends-- my favorite kind of session!
And I must say the little guy was one of the best 2 year olds ever!! He was so sweet and a good listener- as you can tell in the pictures!
We really saw some critters on our stroll. We saw a huge spider, a cool gator, a tree frog and finally... a water moccasin!! WoW!! That was not our favorite moment!
The funny part about the tree frog- a guy came up to us and said I needed to bring my camera to take a picture of this cool little green from he found! --- It was a TREE FROG- like the 47 on my back door! haha!!! He obviously wasn't from here-- he was from Colorado and had never seen one!

It was definitely an adventure! I adore this sweet family and so thankful our paths crossed 4 years ago!!

Introducing Trends on the Bend...
This is the staff and a few of the products from the trendy shoppe, Trends on the Bend located in Sterlington.
With this sweet group of girls, I can't imagine there ever being a dull moment!! We went for a ride and ended up in the middle of someone's field right off of a busy road!! The guys were honking away at these pretty girls!! =)

We drug out all the stuff and just had FUN! They are wearing the apparel and jewelry and BOOTS-- LOOOOOOVE these BOOTS-- from the shop. So take a look at it all and see if there is anything you might want to swing by there for. There are unique handcrafted bags and bracelts and necklaces. Even clothes and frames and paintings. They are right on HWY 165N behind The Fish House and beside The Pit. Perfect location to shop and dine!!

I want to tell you about the last picture. This is actually my bracelet. Brandon and I had wandered into Trends on the Bend one day after a great lunch at The Fish House. I ordered this absolutely gorgeous bracelet (I get compliments on it every single day). I had the verse from a ministry I am invloved in stamped on it- so that I can be reminded of MY PURPOSE. It was ready the day I was taking their pictures- and the shop owner, Mandi Black GAVE it to me! She has no idea what this bracelet means to me-- and now even more that it was a gift. I adore it.

I love these kids!! I have enjoyed watching them grow over the years. It's amazing how quickly they change!
Their Mom is a co-worker and friend of mine. She won this session at last year's teacher's luncheon- and we have been looking forward to it ever since! It's so sweet to see the 2 of them together with him being so grown. They are both such great kids and always a joy to be around.

I am claiming this verse for a special family today. We know a young man who is only 14 years old who is in a terrible battle with Fanconi Anemia. This is a serious, life threatening illness that has really taken it's toll on our young friend. PLEASE stop and say a prayer for James Christopher. He needs strength and for his immune system to work really hard to build up and fight back. His family is one of the strongest Chrisitan families I know. We have been boldly going to our Lord and asking Him to continue to do for James Christopher what He has been doing for him for years longer than expected. I am also asking for a miracle-- again-- so that we can use James Christopher's testimony to tell praise God. Please join us in this prayer petition.

Miss Personality Plus!! I had soo much fun with this out going little 3 year old!! I have been planning for this session for a while. I took all sorts of props, and I do believe we used every stinkin last one of them! =) Sometimes all at ONE TIME! I laughed and truly enjoyed myself. She reminds me sooooo much of my oldest- personality wise. Man, I miss those days!!

The Mom of this little princess and I go waaayyy back to Elementary days! Her grandfather was my principal, her grandmother was my teacher and her aunt is now my son's teacher (plus one of my beloved co-workers for some time)! So my path has crossed with this family many, many times-- and it has always been a tremendous blessing! So I am honored to capture these moments for them!! We went to her grandmothers perfect little neighborhood for this session. It is just like a storybook- and I am sure the setting of many wonderful memories.

Thanks soooo very much for trusting me with these precious portraits. I looove that the little white dress was worn by Anna Kate 15 years ago-- and it looks as timeless today as it did then. They are both beautiful girls and I have enjoyed photographing both of them recently! Hope you love them!! =)

wow-- I don't guess I have ever really paid attention to this verse in the past. But today it REALLY spoke VOLUMES to me!! We all need a little jump start every now and then! I have a big project that the Lord has entrusted me with that I have kinda floundered on lately. I really don't know my next step. So this verse leaped at me as if it were written for this precise moment. I hope it speaks to some of you too. We can't give up or quit when God has called us to His purpose.

Geaux LSU!!! This was a really fun session with my fabulous neighbors! They are some die-hard LSU fans and I had a great time capturing that!!

This was discussed in our Sunday School lesson. I quoted the scripture but never looked it up. Today it was the exact scripture I flipped to!! God always gives us even the things we don't specifically ask for.
I am thankful the He does give us wisdom. There ahave been many times that I have struggled over what to do in situations, and sometimes feel like no one can really steer me in the right direction. But I have a friend in God- and He has never failed me. I wish I could say the same for me-- I know I have failed Him many times. But He is still there for me!!

This precious girl is the niece of a close friend of mine! She is just beautiful and I couldn't wait to get my lens on her =)
She is so quiet and sweet- I could take her home with me! I think she had fun though as we did all the different things. She's so shy that I wasn't too sure how she'd interact with me-- but she did GREAT!! I could have gone all day if they had let me!!

This passage came to mind since we just marked the 10th anniversary of the tragic day of September 11. I can not express how thankful I am that I worship the ONE true God who loves us and would never require us to do anything to cause us harm. I am so thankful that even when things do go very wrong here, that we have a Heavenly Father to bring us peace. And I will be forever grateful that I have been adopted into His family and will someday inherit His kingdom for all eternity. Our God is an AWESOME GOD.

This is my 2nd year with most of these guys and I just ADORE them!! My best friend's son is #13 and is just like a son to me!! So we follow them around and cheer them on!! I have learned to truly love shooting baseball-- but it did take some work to get half way decent at it!!
These guys play so well together and got along great in the dug-out- that it was just a fun time all around! They have grown so much in just a year- I can not wait to see them in the years to come!
These parents are also some of the sweetest, most supportive baseball parents I have ever worked with-- including the ones from last year!
This is just a tiny sampling of all that I took that weekend.

This precious baby boy has changed so much!! Babies truly are miracles. They grow so fast and are just perfect-- we really serve an awesome God!
I had a good time with little Rafe. We had a few interruptions-- and the 100+ degree weather did not help!! But he is a sweetie and did everything a 3 month old could do =)

I love seeing the changes every 3 months-- it really touches me-- and makes me miss my small babies! I remember how difficult it was and feeling like it would be that way forever... but oh my goodness, how wrong I was!! People tell you it flies by- but you just can't imagine it until you've lived it. Cherish every moment-- even the difficult ones.

This scripture says so much!! And I have noticed that if someone listened in to my conversations, I would sound like a broken record. I know that the answer to everything... marriage, hardships with your children, in your job, loss of a loved one... everything... is to seek God! REALLY seek God. Put your faith in Him and ask for His wisdom, His guidance. That truly is the "secret" to a "happy" life!! So many are missing the big picture. Very little that goes on this life is real. You take absolutely nothing with you when you leave. If you can get your life in connection with Jesus Christ... then you will experience true happiness that has never been found anywhere else!! I always tell my youth we were born with a Christ-shaped hole-- and you try to plug it up with everything -- but we still feel the huge gaping hole, which makes us miserable. Until we accept Christ as our Savior... then that hole is filled-- and so are our lives!! What is your Christ-shaped hole being stuffed with??

Where do I even begin describing this wonderful, fun, precious family?!?
I guess at the beginning (from my point of you, anyway =)
The Mom and I go all the way back to kindergarten. I distinctly remember sharing my mermaid toy with my friend,Shannon. We were together every single year from that point on-- along with about 28 of our favorite people. We all got together recently (because of the very sad loss of one of those special friends) and it was so strange to listen to others have the exact same memories as me-- Same teachers, same friends, same events, same goofball stories!! I had forgotten what it was like to be so BONDED with a group!! To be so blessed!!

Then after college, I was hired for my first teaching job- and there was ...Shannon!! I was so excited! I had a wonderful time seeing her do what she was so stinkin' good at-- and she's still going strong!

While we were teaching together she married the man of her dreams-- and now look at their gorgeous family!! I hated that T.J. couldn't be with us for these pictures-- but he is an important and busy man flying an F-16 fighter jet defending our freedom!! So we will excuse him this once!! haha!! But man-- with Nick there he was sure there in spirit-- his mini-me!!

So I was truly HONORED when Shannon asked me to take her family (minus 1) portraits! And sooo excited because that meant I'd get to spend time with her and her little men! And it was wonderful! Those guys are each so different- and her younger one acted just like my boy-- plum silly. Shannon nor I know where they get that from?!??!! haha!! (Truth is... we were BOTH dubbed by Mrs. Jackson in 3rd grade as the class clownS)-- ssshhhh!!! =D

When Mitch got there he loved being around them and asked me when we could see them again. Then about fell out when I told him they live in a foreign country!!!
So it was so very exciting- I had a fabulous time-- and just wish we had more time. And it was, of course, 1000 degrees out and we were melting.

But Shannon- I hope I lived up to your expectations! This is NOT all of them. This is just your sneak peek of my favorites. I will let you know when I have the others where you can see them!

Wow-- soooo sorry it has taken me so long to blog this sneak peek!! Seems like everything has happened since I took these!! Plus football ads have kept me hopping!

I have been looking forward to photographing this family for a while! But man.. it was soooooo HOT!!! We would have to take cool down breaks! But everyone stayed in great spirits and we trooped along there for a couple of hours! I had a great time!! It's a challenge with so many younger children-- but Itruly enjoyed it! I love big families- and am so surprised that I don't have one myself! It was fun!!

Sweet Cannon- 9 months!

I can not believe this sweet little guys is already 9 months!!! He is so happy and adorable!! But I will say- it was H-O-T HOT out that day and we went through this session in a hurry! He was so good though!! I can't wait until his 1 year portraits and making a collage of his whole first year!! That will be precious!!!!

It truly is such a privilege to capture these milestones-- I always feel so incredibly honored to be a part of this!! Thank you so much, J!! I know he is everything and MORE than you ever prayed for!!

This is the scripture that God lead me to that will be the motto for our youth group at Victory Baptist Church this year-- we are TEAM VICTORY!! In the last few posts I talked about people in the church tearing one another down instead of lifting each other up. That is what our focus in the youth will be this year. Working as a team to keep one another accountable and provide help whenever needed, no matter what! I know that this is one of the main functions of our church body. We all need a "team" to belong to!! If you dont have one-- then I really encourage you to join one of your nearby churches and become involved!! It will change your life!!

This adorable trio belongs to some fun-loving, crazy parents!! =) There is never a dull moment with this bunch!! We have been friends for years and they are a treasure to my family. Our children are life-long buds! They can go forever without seeing each other and then pick up right where they left off. They are just so good together!! The grown ups do the same!! I hate that sometimes we do go so long-- but with those busy children... it's hard to keep up =)

But I loved every minute with this family and wish we had time to do more!! But again... those busy children keep ya hopping!! =)

We should all treasure this scripture- and follow it. The Lord said that we give things to our children as parents; He is a far better parent than we are-- so imagine the good things He wants for us! But just like we are with our children-- He knows what is best for us. These is a popular song with these words in it that I song in my head often. But when I was younger and heard this for the first time, I was amazed. I have such an awed feeling knowing that God- who created EVERY thing loves me enough to listen to my desires!! But I have also learned that you have to be careful of what you ask for. =)

This was a fantastic session!! The lighting, weather, children, location-- all PERFECT!!! I can't wait to have time to really work on these photos.

I have been photographing these children all their lives, really... got lots of snapshots to prove it! =) And I have had many sessions with them too. They are adorable and so stinkin' sweet!!

This scripture is also a praise song-- and I have memories of me singing this song as far back as my memory goes. I find myself singing it a lot and really praising God-- especially in the mornings-- when I need to praise Him the most. =) My favorite part is that His mercies never come to an end and are new every morning!! Wow!!! Every morning we can start fresh in Him!! That is so comforting-- and so NOT HUMAN. We hardly ever give second chances and love people right where they are. We usually wait for them to become who WE want them to be. I am so thankful that God is nothing like us... although He is who we should be striving to become!!

This little guy is all the way from AR! He did soooo good for sooo long!! He would lose his sunny mood-- then perk right back up!! If we were all that resilient!!! =)

He is really on the go now and growing so much!! I can't wait til all that blonde hair comes in!

I had a great time-- it was a "cool 94 degrees" that evening!! Crazy when you honestly think 94 is cool!! I am not kidding! haha!! But we were blessed with perfect conditions- and no bug bites or stings! =)

I KNOW that sometimes this is so hard to do!! But I honestly feel that we should constantly be in a spirit of love toward everyone-- not just those who are behaving the way we think they should. Everyone makes mistakes-- and some even have convictions about things that others don't-- but persecuting other believers when we ourselves are NOT perfect is not the way that God would have us to be. Being a peacemaker is a lot of work-- and takes a lot of prayer-- but we are called to it as God's children.

This beautiful brother/sister duo came to see me from Mississippi. I was so excited to have them come back for more-- and to see them again!! They are truly one sweet, sweet family and I always enjoy every minute!!
We went to my friends house again-- a treasure trove of photo spots!! and a wonderful air conditioned out door kitchen to change clothes and take a break fromthe sweltering HEAT!
These teens were so cooperative and just made my job so much fun and easy! I could have kept going all day---- BUT--- my Canon 5D MarkII QUIT!!!! Yep--- QUIT!!! It got knocked on the cement stairs goig to the bayou- which I didn't think much of at the time-- but then it would not work!! But thankfully-- all of these pictures were still on the card when I got home!! So this was my last session with that beloved camera. I am getting a new one (waiting on insurance) and in the meantime made a trip to Jackson- Deville camera and bought a wonderful Canon 7D as a back up!! I looooove it- and for almost half the price-- it is a WINNER!! and it takes great sports pics! But what a crazy time!!! I told the Mom they can officially say they have broken the camera! hahah!!! I am just so thankful that I was able to complete their session!! God is so good!! =)

This scripture speaks to me on several different levels. We can show God's love, not just to the unsaved we are trying to reach, but also to the Christians right in our own churches. It is so sad that sometimes the place we should all find comfort, is the place we sometimes get torn down. Compassion and understanding should prevail in God's house, yet sometimes we listen to our sisters and brothers with a judging spirit and react in that way, instead of taking things in and responding in a way that can get results. It's not that we can't teach and correct one another-- but the spirit in which we speak and beahave can run people off instead of drawing them closer to HIM- which is our goal-- not punishment. I feel very strongly that today's churches really struggle with this and pray that God will use me to love people the way He loves me! I amso thankful for his mercy and gentleness and would not risk losing that by my behavior toward others.

This is a TRUE "sneak peek"!! There are sooo many more I had the HARDEST time choosing-- and as you can tell -- I couldn't narrow down too well-- I adored them ALL. The camera loves these sisters-- and I must say-- they were having a pretty good time with the camera too! =)
They are obviously little dancers. I had the privilege of doing the older ones dance pics last year too-- she is just so graceful and beautiful! I told their Mom that the only thing that saves them is that these girls won't be teen agers at the same time-- so they can focus on knocking the guys away one girl at a time! =)
They also have an adorable brother-- but since he doesn't take dance, they let him sleep in!! But we should be doing some football pics of him soon!

This is certainly something MANY of us need to be reminded of. So many of our church leaders have lost their empathy for others. Some are so busy counting the faults of others that they don't see themselves spiraling down a path of anger and bitterness that spews over into their lives. We must remember to keep the main thing the main thing-- and that is to bring others to the LOVE and family of Jesus Christ. I am so thankful for His love and MERCY-- and hope to always extend that to others!

This beautiful Mom and boys is a friend and co-worker (teacher). This session has also been a looong time coming! I was so excited to get a chance to capture this precious trio. The Dad is supposed to actually be in the next session in the fall-- but was out of town for this one.
Besides it being 100 degrees outside it was perfect! It was a gorgoues Louisiana day- and unfortunately that means triple digits for us!

I looove the next to the last shot! It's my favorite-- and the easiest one to capture- haha!!! That boy is spunk-ky!!! But I thought this was perfect for a big brother too!! They actually get along quite well. =)

So Mandie-- I hope this lived up to your expectations!! I wanted it to match your excitement!! =) There will be more on the gallery in about a week or so-- this is just a "sneak peek".

We have talked about the Fear of God a lot here recently in church- for one reason or another. Many have said that our society is losing it's just fear of the sovereign God who controls ALL. I believe that to be true-- which makes me sooo thankful for this scripture. It's personal-- that if I have that fear and teach it to my family and live by His will-- then my children and their children will still have God's love and righteousness!! This really comforts me. If you have no other reason to live by God's word-- do it for your children.

This sweet family has grown by two little feet since I last saw them!! The beautiful little boy was the baby in the last session =) It has been too long!

It was very hot -- June in Louisiana always is-- but we worked fast and got some good shots. I had a great time with this family as usual!

New Baby Brother

Sweet, sweet, sweet!! I just love new born babies- I could definitely be a professional rocker!! But-- it was 100 degrees out there, so there wasn't much rocking going on! haha!! We were working like mad to try to get back to some A/C!

But I must give a shout out to this fabulous family! They were real troopers! You can't even tell in the pics that we were all but melting! haha!!! We truly had a great time! The children are all beautiful and so sweet - they made my job a breeze!!

I turned straight to this verse and thought it was perfect!! We fret over what to name our new babies-- but we need to be far more concerned with passing on a good "name" in reputation and standing. It is a true gift to be able to tell people your name with pride and knowing that it helps you earn favor. I thank my Daddy and my Mom for paving the way for me. As a parent-- that is what I strive to do. If you have no other reason to live "right"-- your children should be it!! But we have a Heavenly Father that has given us His name and had adopted us into His kingdom-- we are an heir to the throne-- what a name He has given us!! =)

We had a beautiful day to take some great family portraits! The days a re getting longer-- I loooove it!!
We actually did most of these pics at my house. I don't do that very often-- but it really worked for this great family. I had been looking forward to this session. This sweet mom is very involved in her sons school- which at one time was my school, which is how we got to know each other. He was also in Hannah Beth's class this year and she helped make it a great year!
That grandbaby (the baby girl) is about the cutest, happiest baby ever!! She is a doll!!
We left and went to great "weedy" field-- but Trisha and I were the only ones who thought so-- haha! So I am very glad we did get a running start at my house! =)

I would think this is one of the most memorized verses in the Bible. I know that the brave men and women out in the mission fields rely on it to get them through tough situations. Thanks to our heros, our soldiers- we have the freedom to serve our God openly and freely- without the fear of death and persecution. I pray that we will forever have this freedom. But there are many who don't... who have to stand firm against those who think they should be ashamed. We need to pray for them daily. And pray for our soldiers who protect us.

On the Farm...

What a wonderful experience! This precious family lives their American dream on a small farm in the middle of their own crops, fields and pastures! I was just amazed out how comfortable these little kiddos were with the animals and climbing fences and dirt blowing in the crazy wind we had! I looooooved it!!! The little guy is only 3- but he already had the presence of a hard-working little man--he was ADORABLE!!

I hated fighting the wind that day- as you see the evidence in the portraits- but it was really whipping! The sun was also blinding-- but we kept at it and had a great time! The Mom is about as laid back as they come and that goes a looong way on days like this! =)

The baby calf in the picture was my new best friend! She is only 3 weeks old and was pure SUGAR!!! If they stayed as sweet as her I would have stolen her right then! I don't think I had ever touched a cow before (I know, crazy for a girl from DUNN-- but my parents were St. Louis immigrants-haha!!!) but this little jewel rubbed across me like a cat! It was precious! She even stepped on my poor feet a few times!

The horse shots were a first for me too! And I LOOOOOOVE a challenge- so I had been looking forward to that for a while! The girl and the horse were just beautiful and totally up to the task!!

oh---- I have to explain the pic of our little man pouting! See his sister in the background "having tea"? Well-- he wanted tea 2- and dog gone it- there were only 2 cups and those girls snatched them up first! But don't despair-- he had his turn too-and is actually giving me a thimbs up when he did get his turn! Love that kid!!!

So you can tell-- I had a great time! It was a lot of work, being completely out of my element-- but I loved it! I absolutely can't wait til our fall session!! I will be thinking of some ideas! =)

This scripture was given to me this week from Brandon's cousin, Jonathan. He has Cereral Palsy and has to have constant care. But He has trusted God with his life and his salvation and praises God with his whole heart! We are ALL wonderfully made- that is God's gift to us-- what we do with what He has given us is our gift to Him. Jonathan has chosen to follow God's will for his life and even has his own ministry! It is inspiring! Please pray for him and his parents--- because truly, if Jonathan has a ministry-they do to, for he can not do anything without their help! Thankg God for Godly and loving parents!!

Heeeeeere's Cannon!! =) I was so excited to photograph this sweet baby boy again!! It is amazing how quickly they grow and change! He is just precious! So incredibly happy and so much fun!! His mom will have a fabulous summer off with this cutie pie!

I really wanted to take him home with me-- I have figured out that 6-18 months are my very favorite ages ever!! I sure miss my babies being that small!!! When just seeing your face would make their faces light up! Aw....

I love this scripture (I say that about all of them, don't I?) haha!! But I love knowing that I have a SHIELD!! In the world we live in-- we all need a shield. And that is why God gave us His word-- He knew fully that we would have heartache, disappointments and suffering. But in His providence- He has provided us a safe place. His word is truly a living word- and by reading it He speaks to us to bring us peace, comfort and wisdom for His will. If we all delved into it more, we would have far fewer troubles...this defintely includes ME!

Wow!! I had a TERRIBLE time choosing which pictures to blog for this adorable family!!! So I can not imagine having to ORDER--- sorry, S!! =)

They are all amazingly photogenic-- and so much FUN!! I love these boys!! They have great senses of humor and are so stinkin' sweet! And this is one of those sessions again where I didn't want to turn them black and white because the colors were just perfect.

As you can tell they are all about sports! I have seen these guys at the baseball field since they were toddling around. They have a love for it -- that believe me, comes straight from their Dad!! I have enjoyed watching them through out the years. So I just could not resist adding sports to our theme for the day. It certainly doesn't stop at baseball!! This was my first time to do this-- but I really like it!! It really fits them!

There are sooo many more I would have loved to have blogged-- so you will have to check out the gallery when I actually get it posted.

This is something that we have been discussing a lot lately at our home- and at church. To really HEAR what God is saying to us. Our preacher recently said, "God hasn't stopped talking to us, but we have stopped HEARING Him." This has really been my prayer lately. I want to always be sensitive to His word and His desire for my life-- because I KNOW that is where our JOY is. I do have Joy in the Lord- and I am thnakful for that DAILY.

Another gorgeous girl!! Those EYES!!! And let me set the record straight-- I do NOT touch up these eyes!! =) They really are that green and that beautiful!! I showed their moms when I took them. It's a combination of great lighting, an awesome lens, and a creative Heavenly Father that truly blessed these girls! =) I understandably get asked about this and I always forget to mention it.
(I say girls beacuse I am referring to previous posts as well.=)
This is the same girl that I took Homecoming pictures of. I looooooove taking her picture-- she is flawless! We had a good time in the VERY short time that we had-- I think we shot for maybe 25 minutes by the time it was all said and done. We just did what we could. We hope to do more in the future.

Beautiful, beautiful! I know ya'll get tired of me saying that-- but you can't argue it!! These girls have all been stunning-- and I have one more to go!!! =)

This was a very last minute work in- but I think it turned out great!! I love spending time with these girls! I also got some great shots of her baby niece-- but those will come later. But I know graduation is just a few short weeks away and I was trying to get that much finished first. It had actually rained really hard the days before and I was worried-- but we found some high ground and made the best of it.
